3 Most Radical Ideas From the Democratic Convention

International Man: The Democratic National Convention recently took place in Chicago. It was a mishmash of uniformly destructive ideas.

Zooming out, what are your thoughts on the overall convention?

Doug Casey: The dominant memes there were envy, hypocrisy, and socialism. Three things that always go together.

Along with that triumvirate of values, a triumvirate of pants-suit-wearing females, supported by a horde of psychologically damaged cat ladies, is leading the Democratic Party. As Jim Kunstler likes to say, Hillary was flapping her leathery wings over the convention. Big Mike, Barack Obama’s dominant alter ego, positioned herself as the 2028 candidate. And then there was the pathetic Kamala Harris, the affirmative action hire. If only Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS, was still around to make it a foursome. They kept talking about democracy, which is an illusion in the degenerate, multicultural domestic empire that the US has become.

Meanwhile, it was clear that Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic Party’s malignant queen, conducted a palace coup on the non compos mentis Biden. She undoubtedly gave him an ultimatum: step down the easy way or the hard way. The man who bested the Mighty Cornpop slunk off to his basement to eat ice cream and dream of sniffing young girls’ hair.

Kamala, a dislikable nobody who came out of nowhere four years ago to become the most unlikely choice for vice president, has now become the most unlikely of choices for President. I think there’s a fair chance Biden will step down in the next few months so she can become the first woman President; her incumbency might aid her election prospects.

It’s funny how these people talk about democracy and freedom, even as those concepts are being banished from the US, which is rapidly becoming a police state. Harris and Walz are ideological communists. Of course, they don’t call themselves communists, but their beliefs and lifelong histories tell the tale. They’re not just garden-variety leftists. They’re far worse; they’re malevolent buffoons, veritable lowlifes. We’ve come a long way from the Founding Fathers, who were classically educated, thoughtful, independent men of property.

It’s perverse that the only hope to save what’s left of America from the Evil Party is the Stupid Party. Even though the stupidity represented by the Republicans might be even more dangerous, at least evil can be identified and countered; stupidity is amorphous, nebulous, and like drowning in a cesspool. Even the gods themselves are powerless against stupidity.

Worse, the problem is much bigger than two corrupt political parties. It’s that nobody in politics, the media, academia, entertainment, the business world, or frankly anywhere, decries the moral rot that has allowed these people to rise to the levels they have.

The Republicans don’t decry the Democrats for promoting evil ideas. They just say that they have unworkable ideas or that they’re going too far too fast. Possible exceptions: RFK and Elon, who appear to have a visceral contempt for the woke Dems. Though they’re only ornaments and don’t control the machine, they could have a big influence on swing states and undecided voters, where Trump is weak.

I’ll give you an example. Last week, I was on a Zoom call that featured three high-up muckety-mucks from the Heritage Foundation, a Republican think tank. In an hour-long presentation, none of them talked about anything to do with principles, morality, or even intelligent policies. Just statistics, polls, and fundraising. They were soulless middle managers, suits collecting salaries from people dim enough to donate to a giant bureaucracy like Heritage. It’s pathetic; they produce a gigantic 900-page policy manual, and Trump disavows it. If that’s the best the Stupid Party can do to fight the Evil Party, it’s game over.

International Man: The Democrats are keen on raising taxes across the board.

They’d like to raise the corporate tax, the personal income tax, and the Medicare surtax, among others.

They’d also like to raise the capital gains tax to the higher regular income rate.

What do you make of these tax hikes?

Doug Casey: The Dems are all about overtly directing resources to the State. Even though the Reps, believe it or not, actually borrow and spend more. But they disguise their actions with conservative-sounding rhetoric. Absolutely nobody sees the State as a parasite—forget about society’s main enemy. The two parties and the elite live off the State; it’s their benefactor.

The Dems are talking about raising the corporate tax. But since the average guy doesn’t pay corporate tax, he couldn’t care less. In fact, he hates corporations. He’s been taught to think of them as greedy exploiters. So, the average guy is just fine with corporate taxes being raised to any level you’d like.

As for the personal income tax, half the country doesn’t pay any meaningful personal income taxes; as far as they’re concerned, it’s all about soaking the rich. They’re fine with that too.

And the 3.8% Medicare Surtax? That’s only paid on investment income and very high earnings—the hoi polloi are fine with that going up, too.

By contrast, Republicans like talking about tax cuts. But the Stupid Party, apparently sincerely, doesn’t understand that as long as the government spends trillions of dollars per year more than it takes in, that money has to come from someplace. Right now, most of it is being funded by debt sold to the Federal Reserve and then monetized.

Although neither party talks about it, Modern Monetary Theory has triumphed. Trump, who knows very little about economics, implicitly endorses MMT by saying that he’d like to eliminate the income tax and replace it with import duties. He doesn’t seem to understand that there is no way you can eliminate or cut taxes without cutting spending. However, when he was in office, he spent more than Biden will in his four years. And Trump has promised he not only won’t cut entitlements but will raise military spending. He doesn’t seem to understand that Medicare, Social Security, interest, and “defense” are already over 80% of spending.

International Man: Another of Kamala Harris’ proposals includes taxing unrealized capital gains. If it becomes a reality, it would, in effect, introduce a wealth tax in the US.

What is your take?

Doug Casey: They’ll impose a wealth tax, saying it will only affect the rich, exempting the bottom half of the country. Of course. Most Americans have few significant assets anyway.

But it’s arguable that an unrealized capital gains tax is even worse than a wealth tax. Why? Because it would make it extremely hard for anyone to benefit from the appreciation of their home or stocks.

This will be in addition to CBDCs, which put your savings at the disposal of the State.

Anyway, the discussion shouldn’t be about what might be the “best” or “fairest” or most “efficient” new taxes or how to change existing taxes. The problem is that there’s absolutely no discussion, by anyone, of basic principles of what’s right or wrong, good or evil.

Instead, everybody automatically sees generating revenue for the government as “good.” These fools talk of tax cuts as “costs” to the government. In fact, any revenue going to the government only allows them to do more stupid, destructive things, creating more distortions in the economy. The question shouldn’t be how “we” can generate more revenue for the government but how to deny the State as much revenue as possible.

International Man: Amid soaring inflation, Harris has proposed price controls at the grocery as a solution.

How do you expect that to work out?

Doug Casey: Well, the fact that she’s talking about that further proves her low intelligence. Anybody making such a proposal has never figured out simple cause and effect. We’re dealing with a stupid person. And you can’t reason with a stupid person. I’m not, incidentally, name-calling or using stupidity as a pejorative. I define stupidity as not necessarily low IQ but rather an unwitting tendency to self-destruction.

When the Evil Party is controlled by clinically stupid people, you’re chancing the destruction of the whole civilization. We’d be much safer if a smart, evil person like Kissinger could be resurrected in her place…

But she’s not just stupid; she’s ignorant. She has no knowledge of how catastrophic price controls have been throughout history, including those of President Nixon, whose disastrous “Nixonomics” program she endorsed.

And last, her threat of price controls is further proof of the woman’s lack of a moral compass and malevolence. She’s showing an intent to impose her will on society. She’s a trifecta of disaster—stupid, ignorant, and evil.

Should Kamala and her party gain control of the US, it means that the characteristics I’ve assigned to her—stupidity, ignorance, and malevolence—must also be true of her voters. If she’s installed, you can argue that’s the will of the people. Can we, therefore, say that a majority of American voters are stupid, ignorant, and malevolent as well? I hope not. But in recent years, they’ve installed Bush/Cheney, Obama, and Biden… maybe the US is just getting what it deserves like Rome in the 4th and 5th centuries.

International Man: Lenin once said, “The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.”

What can people do today to protect themselves from these modern Bolsheviks?

Doug Casey: There are two logical possibilities.

One, you can attempt to evade or aggressively avoid their taxes and regulations. That’s very dangerous.

They might catch you, which will be easier with CBDCs and the 80,000 new IRS agents that they’ve hired—probably not a very good idea.

Two, you can leave the country.

I’d point out that if you saw what was happening in Russia in 1917, a smart person would’ve left Russia. If you saw what was happening in Germany in 1933, if you had had any brains, you would’ve left Germany. Same with Spain in 1936, or Europe in 1939, or China in 1947, or Cuba in 1959, or Vietnam in 1975, or Venezuela in 2000. Those are just a few examples off the top of my head. I’m afraid that it may be the United States’ turn on the dance card.

But wait. Maybe Kamala will meet an unfortunate accident if the Dems correctly figure she might be just too objectionable to win. Or maybe the Dems will take another shot at Trump. If it’s successful, Kamala could be installed with minimum cheating. There are lots of possibilities, few of them good.

In any event, I fear something wicked this way comes.
