JP Cortez: $40 Trillion in Debt - America Is Not Immune

What if the problem is not that gold is becoming more expensive, but that the money we use to measure it is becoming less valuable?

In my latest conversation with JP Cortez, Executive Director of the Sound Money Defense League, we explore what this means for savers and why he believes gold and silver should once again have a greater role as money.

JP argues that the advice many of us were given growing up simply save your money, no longer works in the same way. In an inflationary monetary system, holding cash for long periods can mean watching its purchasing power steadily erode.

His answer is not to impose a new gold standard from Washington. Instead, JP believes individuals should have the freedom to choose gold and silver as alternative money, without the taxes and regulations that currently make doing so more difficult.

JP also explains why states themselves are considering physical gold for their balance sheets.

With US debt around $40 trillion, JP believes continued spending and money printing are bullish for gold and silver. Ultimately, he describes buying precious metals as a vote of no confidence in the US dollar.
