Attorney General Pam Bondi’s exhibition performance before Congress landed like a face plant in the Winter Olympics. Her slippery skating around all the issues became so farcical that many Republicans are now saying they’ve had enough. Some of the harshest criticisms of her “schoolgirl” game of name-calling in preference to answering important questions of justice have come from MAGA Republicans.
Several of them are now calling for Bondi to resign or face impeachment or be fired by Trump, since firing is what his kind of reality TV was famous for, and since she failed to own up to any failures by her department or to explain anything. This apprentice needs to go, but firing doesn’t seem likely since the president loves a good cage fight, and Bondi delivered by spending plenty of time attempting to spatter the faces of Congress in their own blood while slathering public praise on the prez. Many critics noted that her preference to grandstand on Trump’s claimed economic achievements was just a PR stunt that had nothing to do with the reason she was called before Congress.
I’ve posted a couple of videos below about the debacle. One has some outtakes of Bondi’s enraged performance that was designed for an audience of one—the Don. The other is an interview with a Republican representative and supporter of Donald Trump, who even seeks his support for her own re-election campaign, who says, nonetheless, the DoJ’s longtime cover-up will go down as one of the greatest cover-ups in American history! She lays out her own experience in trying to go to the DoJ as a member of the congressional oversight committee to review the files in their promised unredacted form, only to find that a huge number of redactions were still in place, and the redactions that did get removed proved to be hiding the perps and not the victims.
Here is a summary of the published reviews of Bondi’s Olympic side show:
A visibly stunned Republican Rep. Thomas Massie told reporters after the shouting match: “She didn’t answer anything. She came here ready to talk about the Dow Jones and the Nasdaq, which seems kind of crazy to me….”
Kyle Rittenhouse, who was acquitted of murdering two people during a protest against police violence when he was just 17, wrote: “Pam Bondi needs to resign….
Conservative radio host Erick Erickson said Bondi should quit or be fired. Referring to a clip of the AG ranting about stocks instead of answering a question, he wrote on X: “When the Attorney General of the United States is asked why she has prosecuted no one related to Jeffrey Epstein and this is her answer, she should be fired or resign … But neither will happen, which is another reason the Democrats are going to have a good election year.”
Tim Pool, a prominent pro-Donald Trump commentator and podcaster, also broke from Bondi…. He declared: “Man, we are a nation of adult children…. I think Pam Bondi has done a ... I give her more credit than people do. I was about to say that I think she’s done a decent job, but I can’t. It’s just...I can’t say it.
“I think they’ve miserably handled the Epstein files. I don’t think we’re serviced as the American people by this kind of yelling,” Pool explained. He also offered a “shout out” to congressmen Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie, the architects of the Epstein Transparency Act, “for getting the job done.”
Nick Fuentes, the far-right podcaster, demanded she be impeached even before the meltdown. “Pam Bondi needs to be impeached. You lied about the existence of the files. You lied about unindicted collaborators and accomplices…. There are people that you acknowledge exist who are likely incriminated in the files that you said did not exist. You lied in the furtherance of a cover-up. Pam Bondi has to be impeached. Kash Patel has to be impeached.”
Mary Trump, the estranged niece of the president, said Bondi will remain in her post for a grim reason. “Pam Bondi won’t resign, and she won’t be fired. She’s doing exactly what her boss hired her to do.”
Indeed: Lavish the prez. with praise on camera in congress for some hot reality TV while stonewalling all efforts to disclose actual information from the Epstein Files at any self-debasing cost to her own professional reputation, while delivering no justice whatsoever.
